The AP Chinese course is equivalent to the second-year college Chinese course.  The class is conducted almost exclusively in Chinese and the students are encouraged to do the same.   The course provides qualified students with opportunities to further develop, improve and refine their proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills across the three communicative modes ( interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational) and the five goal areas (communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities) as outlined in the Standards for Foreign Language Learning in for the 21st Century.  Through varied reading materials and multimedia approach, contemporary and historical Chinese culture is integrated throughout the entire curriculum .
